secret service and circle are chasing the binance haul, and the freeze button is doing the heavy lifting

the us secret service says it is working with private partners, including circle, to identify, freeze, trace and recover the funds stolen from binance. it is also coordinating with the us attorney's office for the district of columbia and other law enforcement partners to identify the cyber criminals responsible. the agency says the investigation remains in its early stages and that more information will follow as appropriate. the story sits next to the earlier fbi and secret service involvement and the north korea link. one thing to note: circle's ability to freeze usdc puts a centralized stablecoin at the centre of any recovery. the timing of circle's latest usdc mint is only our read and not a stated link. all of this lands with btc near six-week lows.
